Michelle Walker is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is also credentialed as a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). She has been practicing since 2014 in a variety of settings, such as Community Mental Health, Private Practice, and Military Treatment Facilities.
As a Play Therapist, Michelle believes that all children have the right to a safe therapeutic environment where they can process their thoughts and feelings in their primary language, which we call play. Play is a developmentally appropriate way for children to learn, grow, and build self-awareness. She focuses her practice on early childhood and elementary school-aged children through a variety of treatment modalities based on the clinical needs of the child. Along with common emotional and behavioral issues seen in early childhood, Michelle also has experience working with children struggling with anxiety/phobias, attachment, poor self-esteem, divorce and family conflict, trauma, grief and loss, ADHD, Military Family life issues, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Michelle takes a collaborative approach with caregivers and values the child-caregiver relationship.
Michelle received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Millersville University of Pennsylvania in 2011 and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California in 2014.
