Jenni Showalter, L.C.S.W., is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of VA who specializes in supporting preschool, school-aged, and adolescent children and their families. Besides working at Crossroads Family Counseling Center, LLC, she also has experience as an Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist in the school system supporting the healthy social and emotional development of infants and toddlers. She specializes in children exhibiting behavioral issues at home and school, as well as children struggling to cope with anxiety, depression, and changing family dynamics.
Jenni also has experience in fostering children’s executive functioning skills, social skills, and the development of positive self-esteem. Jenni incorporates play and expressive therapies into her therapeutic interventions and uses cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, a family systems perspective and mindfulness techniques. She uses her knowledge of the school system and the numerous challenges currently facing children to help parents navigate education issues.
Jenni completed her Bachelors degree in Psychology from George Mason University in 2009 and graduated with her Master in Social Work (M.S.W.) from George Mason University in 2013. Jenni is currently working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist through the Association for Play Therapy.
