This is an introductory training for therapists who are new to using a Sand Tray in play therapy or who want to further their skills in using the Sand Tray. The theory behind Sand Tray, symbolism and themes in the sand will be addressed. Both directive and non-directive sand trays will be demonstrated and participants will have the opportunity to create individual Sand Trays.
- Understand the origin and how to how to set up a Sand Tray to use in play therapy.
- Identify common themes in the Sand Tray play therapy.
- Discuss 2 directive interventions to use with clients in Sand Tray play therapy.

About the presenter:
Sheri Mitschelen, LCSW, RPT-S Owner and Director of Crossroads Family Counseling Center, LLC and Crossroads Family and Play Institute in Fairfax, VA. Sheri has over 30 year of clinical experience and is an Adjunct Faculty member at George Mason University and Virginia Tech. Marriage and Family Therapy program. She loves uses Sand Tray with her play therapy clients.
