Stephanie Brown, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the Commonwealth of VA who is dedicated to working with children, adolescents, young adults and families. Her approach is warm, collaborative and practical. She provides client-centered treatment, drawing on techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy, play therapy, art therapy and mindfulness.
Her focus is on providing individuals from diverse backgrounds with a safe space to enhance self-awareness and develop the skills needed to reach personal goals and lead more satisfying lives. In working with a broad range of clients, Stephanie has developed an understanding and appreciation for each individual’s unique strengths and natural resiliency.
Stephanie’s specializes in supporting clients dealing with issues related to depression, anxiety, self-esteem, socialization, learning disabilities, attention deficits, substance abuse, stress management and life transitions. She has experience working in school, community-based and private practice settings. In the school setting, she’s worked as high school special education teacher and as a school social worker. As a school social worker, Stephanie provided individual, group, and family counseling at a special education therapeutic day school designed for adolescents with emotional, learning and behavioral challenges. With her experience working in special education, Stephanie is able to help families navigate the IEP process and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary treatment teams.
Stephanie graduated with a Bachelor degree in Psychology from George Mason University in 2009 and earned her Master of Social Work degree from George Mason University in 2013. Stephanie is also working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist through the Association for Play Therapy.
