Melissa Trotti, MA, specializes in working with children and adolescents. Her experience includes working in an elementary school providing Child Centered Play Therapy to children with trauma histories and struggles with emotional regulation issues. In addition, she has experience in a private practice setting working with children and teenagers. She has worked with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, suicidality, selective mutism, ADD/ADHD, emotion regulation and behavioral issues.
Melissa’s approach to therapy includes using Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Child Centered Play Therapy. She views therapy as a collaborative partnership with children and their families and values building the therapeutic relationship. She believes in creating a non-judgmental and safe environment for everyone to feel comfortable expressing their challenges.
Melissa graduated with a Master of Arts in Counseling from UNC-Charlotte. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a concentration in Clinical Psychology in addition to a minor in Criminal Justice from Saint Joseph’s University. She is currently working on her License in Counseling and is under the supervision of Sheri Mitschelen, LCSW, RPT-S.
