Jackie Fonseca, MSW, LCSW and has qualified as a registered play therapist. She is also licensed in MD and DC. Jackie, a bi-lingual therapist speaking English and Spanish has experience in providing direct mental health therapy in school based settings. She specializes in working with school aged children and their families. Her treatment approaches include child centered play therapy, sandplay therapy, theraplay, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, sensory integration and somatic regulation.
Jackie’s area of focus are social skills, anxiety, adjustment periods, anger management, building confidence, developing positive coping skills, increasing communication, addressing traumatic experiences, grief and loss, and providing a safe therapeutic environment for children overall. She believes in a collaborative approach in order to promote social emotional learning and how it relates to a child’s academic success and family attachment. In addition, she has a strengths based perspective to foster self-determination and the ability to recover from adversities.
Jackie received her Master of Social Work (MSW) from The Catholic University of America in 2015 with a clinical concentration. She has completed Theraplay Level 1 and TFCBT trainings.
