Emily Janes, Therapist Intern, from Virgina Tech. University, Marriage and Family Therapy Graduate Program. She specializes in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Emily has worked with a variety of issues, including: anxiety, depression, parent-child relationships, behavioral problems, challenges within immigrant families, and gender identity work. Emily strives to involve the entire family system in the therapeutic process to promote holistic healing and long-lasting change. Emily is a collaborative, client-centered therapist who uses a family systems lens to conceptualize how best to help each client she works with. Emily believes that therapy can empower clients to see their challenges from a new perspective, find inner strength, and live a more wholehearted life. Emily strives to make therapy an open, safe environment where clients feel encouraged and empowered to make the changes they want to see in their lives.
Emily is working towards completing her Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at Virginia Tech University. She graduated from Utah State University with a B.S. in psychology and a minor in human and family development. She is currently under the supervision of Sheri Mitschelen, LCSW, RPT-S.
